Who we support
Alternative Provision supporting 11 to 19 year olds into a better future.
In plain terms
Support built around the individual
Every young person we work with has their own story. GM supports young people aged 11–19, including those affected by:
Whatever a young person's starting point, support is built around them as an individual — their needs, strengths and pathway shape the programme, not the other way round.
One confirmed limitation: GM is not able to offer a placement where a young person's needs mean they require one-to-one-only provision. This doesn't mean individual attention isn't part of how we work — it is — but we don't offer placements built exclusively around one-to-one delivery.
Suitability for a placement is considered in discussion with the referring organisation, to make sure GM can appropriately meet the young person's needs.
For young people
Coming to a new setting can feel daunting. You'll be treated as an individual, not a label. Staff take time to get to know you, your interests and what support actually helps — and to build a programme around that.
You can expect a calmer, smaller environment with shorter, focused learning sessions, clear expectations, and opportunities to try real work experience alongside your education.
For parents & carers
We know handing your child's education to a new provider can feel like a big step. We aim to keep you informed, involve you in decisions about the programme, and stay in regular contact with your child's school throughout.
If you have questions about whether we might be right for your child, please get in touch — there's no obligation.
For professionals
Referring a young person
If you're a school, local authority or commissioner, you're welcome to discuss a young person's potential suitability with us before making a referral.
